Now that the weather’s finally starting to feel appropriately warm for spring, it’s time to enjoy the outdoors! Leave that heavy jumper in the closet, grab your shades (and suncream, of course!) and dust off your outdoor dining set, because there’s no better way to celebrate the season than to host a garden party. And nothing gets a party started like showing off your BBQ cooking skills.

But If you’ve never barbecued before – or aren’t quite as confident as you’d like to be behind the grill – don’t worry, you’re not the only one. We conducted a survey of 1,000 adults in the UK to gauge our general knowledge of food safety and barbecuing, and we uncovered some interesting results. 40% of respondents didn’t know that grills are twice as dirty as toilet seats, 48% didn’t know the temperature that chicken needs to reach to destroy all harmful bacteria like E. coli and salmonella, and only 14% could correctly identify vegetables as the second most common cause of food poisoning!

With that in mind, we decided to create a handy little cheat sheet to help you pull off the tastiest – and safest – party ever. With practical advice on food prep, cooking times, temperature guidance and more, save this handy chart – or better yet, print it out and keep it next to your barbecue – and you can grill like a professional!
